Roberta Shine

Since childhood, I have been attracted to color and shape. Many years later, that remains a strength in my work. I consider myself a colorist with a growing interest in abstract. I am inspired by the world around me, and express what I see by use of color and form. My preference is to work outdoors when possible. My composition is a sensual communication of life as I experience it rather than a reflection of physical reality, using shape and color to carry the essence of human interaction in the world.

I have studied with many teachers, some well-known, others not. I have shown in galleries in both Florida and Rhode Island, winning ribbons in a dozen exhibits. I have taken classes with dearly respected artists including Gene Tonoff, Robert Motherwell, and Wolf Kahn, for whom I have much respect and owe many thanks.
