Carl Ivan Keitner

Always interested in art, Carl graduated with a BFA from Ecole des Beaux Arts de Montreal, majoring in graphic design and photography. Carl's work experience as a graphic designer and art director encompassed everything from advertising agency campaigns, magazine design and production, eventually operating his own graphic studio design in Montreal. Carl emigrated to the USA in 1990 with nothing more than his camera and a dream of opening a photo studio in Providence, RI. 1991, he established Carl Keitner Photography, a studio specializing in black-and-white portraits in Wayland Square on the east side of Providence. For the next 20 years, Carl built a solid clientele in Rhode Island as well as Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maine, Washington and South Carolina. He taught photography for many years at the Learning Connection. When it was time to change direction once again, Carl started experimenting with multimedia photo/painting combination and produced a series of canvases reflecting his experiences during travel especially to Cuba. Currently it's back to black-and-white photography. Carl is an artist member of Imago Foundation for the arts, a co-op art gallery in Warren, RI where he is regularly exhibiting his work.
